Hong Kong Mile Ideal for Gordon Lord Byron

Gordon Lord Byron has posted several typically impressive results through his 2015 racing campaign so far, and trainer Tom Hogan has revealed the seven-year-old is on track for another tilt at the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin in December.

Securing an impressive career total of twelve wins and a further twenty one minors through 55 starts to date, Gordon Lord Byron announced himself to the Australian racing community through a short but impressive 2014 Autumn Carnival campaign, highlighted by success in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.

Having run a credible fourth in the Listed Mercury Stakes (1005m) in Ireland last time out on October 23rd, Hogan told PAA he is thrilled with the condition of the Byron gelding and is confident he will be in peak order for the 2015 Hong Kong Mile.

“Gordon Lord Byron seems well. He had his ups and downs mid-season but he seems in pretty good nick at the moment,” Hogan said.

“He has good form over a mile in Hong Kong and the configuration of Sha Tin is almost identical to Kempton, so he should act well on the track.

“He will hopefully be off to Hong Kong again for the International meeting in December.”

Progressing to a credible sixth in the rain-affected Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) following his 2014 George Ryder Stakes triumph, Gordon Lord Byron continued to impress through a busy 2014 campaign; running second in each of the Group 1 Sprint Cup (1207m) and Group 1 Prix De La Foret (1400m) most notably and ending his year fourth in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m).

Unable to figure when ninth in the Group 1 Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) in Hong Kong on March 15th, Gordon Lord Byron has produced a number of commendable results; namely success in the Listed Dash Stakes (1207m) and third behind Muhaarar in the Group 1 Price Maurice De Gheest (1300m) on August 9th.
