Two mares are currently installed as equal favourites in the Dark Jewel Classic 2017 odds on the field of female gallopers facing off in the handicap clash at Scone Racecourse on Saturday.

Continuing the action of the Scone Cup Carnival, this season’s $200,000 Group 3 Emirates Park Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) features 15 hopefuls and is set to run as Race 7 at 3:50pm (AEST).
Currently the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Artistry and Daysee Doom for Ron Quinton share top spot at $4.60 in the Dark Jewel Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Early money has come in for the 59kg top weight Artistry to improve on her last start seventh when under three lengths beaten by the winner in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) a fortnight back.
Hugh Bowman retains the ride on the Shamardal five-year-old this weekend with Artistry drawn well again in barrier two chasing her maiden win since the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) on March 11 at Rosehill.
Her main rival according to the bookies is the in-form Daysee Doom drawn one on her outside in gate three with apprentice Andrew Adkins to ride on 56kg continuing his nice association with the class mare.
The four-year-old daughter of Domesday was runner-up in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) in the wet two back after her brave fourth to Heavens Above in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m).
She put in the ideal lead-up run when runner-up in the Hawkesbury Crown, which could prove the form line to follow in Dark Jewel Classic tips this weekend.
Occupying the second line of betting at $6.50 and coming up trumps with barrier four in the Dark Jewel Classic field is 53kg lightweight Prompt Response prepared by Tulloch Lodge trainers Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.
The Beneteau filly takes on the older mares here after her excellent run against the colts and geldings finishing second in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) last time out.
She drops two kilos for Saturday’s race and is after her first win since a Sandown-Hillside black-type success over 1400m last November.
Waterhouse & Bott have also accepted for Sweet Redemption who is out to double-figures ($11) after drawing the second widest gate (14 of 15).
Snitzel mare Sweet Redemption is second-up on the weekend after a fifth in the Hawkesbury Crown, narrowly defeated in the blanket finish.
Prior to that in December she won Rosehill’s Group 3 Festival Stakes (1500m) before a Doomben third in the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) over a nice summer campaign.
At an equal $8.50 are the Darren Beadman-trained Kinshachi and the rails-drawn Extensible who is the other Snowden-trained runner in the mix along with Artistry.
Christian Reith rides four-year-old Commands mare Kinshachi second-up after her brave third in the Hawkesbury Crown.
She is out to 1400m for the third time here, her previous two runs over the distance both producing third place efforts, while her latest win was in the Listed Nudgee Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm on New Year’s Eve.
Extensible will get things her way from the barrier and should relish the drop in grade after the Exceed And Excel five-year-old ran 15th as a $41 roughie behind Foxplay at Randwick in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) last time out.
The last of the single figure fancies meanwhile is the Chris Waller-trained Hawkesbury Crown winner Shillelagh ($9.50) who is up a kilo to 57kg and out to continue her good form.
