Moe Racing Club hosts a number of thoroughbred, hurdle and steeple races throughout the year, which attracts plenty of local and interstate attention. As the largest capacity racecourse in Gippsland, Moe features quite a few premier races including the GPG Mobil Moe Cup worth $130,000. This particular day is held during the Spring Racing Carnival and features Fashions on the Field.
The Baw Baw Country Cup Day is held in February and features two major races, a 1600m handicap race worth $20,000. The other is the 2050m Open Baw Baw Country Cup worth $40,000. Apart from midweek racing, the racecourse also holds race meets on Melbourne Cup Day, Boxing Day and Anzac Day. The Super Jumps Day features obstacle races and is held in July. Regarded as the Gippsland Grand National Hurdle, the hurdle race is worth $25,000 in prize money whereas the steeple race is worth $30,000. The racetrack hosts 15 races each year and is a quite small track with a circumference of 1740m and a medium sized straight of 300m. |
