The 2013 Victoria Derby results saw the Robbie Laing-trained Polanski win from barrier one, the race’s most successful Victoria Derby barrier in the past 30 years. He was ridden to victory by Hugh Bowman who made it a trio of wins in the Flemington feature after earlier victories on the Kiwi raiders Lion Tamer (2010) and Sangster (2011). Polanski beat home Complacent ($7) by three lengths and Thunder Fantasy ($31) added value to the 2013 Victoria Derby trifecta. The favourite Savvy Nature ($4) failed to make an impression running 14th and beating home just two other runners.
