- To Win: #8 Rey Mangerio ($3.90 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Tight top-half of the market and there’s early money for Rey Magnerio. Happy to follow the money trail on this consistent Magnus five-year-old who is a six-time winner from 13 starts to date. Hasn’t been disgraced when racing in Group 1 company at this track, is a slick sprinter with winning form at this short distance, and comes off a very close third behind Jimmysstar over 1100m here. Back in trip and down to just 53kg with Jye McNeil aboard from a good gate in a small field. Can win.

Caulfield Sprint History
First raced in 1983 and won by Bow Mistress, the Caulfield Sprint has undergone plenty of name changes since it was first recognized as the Racing Museum Sprint. Over the years the race has been known as the Brylcream Sprint, National Sprint Championship, Caulfield Sprint, Jupiter’s Casino Sprint, Conrad Jupiter’s Sprint, Schillaci Stakes, Mercedes-Benz Sprint, National Telecoms Group Sprint, Dodo Internet Sprint and now it is known as the Thai Airways International Sprint.
First recognised as a Listed race, the Caulfield Sprint then became a Group 3 event in 1993 and finally advanced to Group 2 status in 1999. The race has only had one double winner which was Toledo in 1997-98 and was won with the fastest recorded time by Jet Spur in 2005 with 1 minute 2.1 seconds. The slowest winning time was recorded by 1992 winner Tanjian Prince with 1 minute 6.2 seconds.
The Caulfield Sprint was contested over 1000m for 2015 giving to a quicker winning time (57.45 seconds) and was a dead heat for first for the second time in as many years.

Race comments
REY MAGNERIO (8) ran on well fresh behind Jimmysstar with that form looking very strong now. Back to 1000m now is a slight query but he gets in well with 53kg and will be hard to hold out. ESTRIELLA (1) is the big query. She was favourite in the G1 Moir Stakes fresh when wide but just fair before a strongly run 1200m in the Manikato saw her out. She does have to carry 59kg as a 4yo mare here and there is a case to be made she's not going well. WAY TO THE STARS (7) is a speedy type right in this off the run two back, albeit he had every favour that day. ASHFORD STREET (4) will run well.
