The 2025 Magic Millions Cup along with six other Magic Millions races were abandoned due to heavy rainfall and have been rescheduled for Friday night on January 17 under the lights at the Gold Coast.
The $2 million Magic Millions Cup 2025 is one of the seven races rescheduled for Friday evening’s seven-event Magic Millions Night card at the Gold Coast, and there is an open top half of the market for the handicap clash.
One of three Restricted Listed features on the Aquis Park card this Friday night that were abandoned during last Saturday’s washout, the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) features a quality field of sprinters and middle-distance types.
Current Magic Millions Cup betting at Ladbrokes.com.au has the Michael Freedman trained Moravia narrowly on top at $6 after Ciaron Maher opted to run last year’s champion Semana in the $1 million Magic Millions Snippets over less distance this season.
Four-year-old Snitzel gelding Moravia chases his first win since last September and is out to atone for his second to upset winner Redford as the beaten odds-on favourite in the Magic Millions Rising Stars Class 4 Plate at the Sunshine Coast last weekend.
He was on the quick back-up but gets a bit of time between runs now, and he is rock hard fit with the markets suggesting he can bounce back up to 1400m now from gate eight with Tommy Berry riding.
The top two are hard to split in the markets with Magic Millions Cup odds of $6 also now on offer for Charm Stone from the Price / Kent Jnr stable.
She was a dual acceptor but scratched out from the Fillies & Mares race in favour of this more lucrative assignment against the boys.
The I Am Invincible mare runs fresh down in grade this weekend with her latest start being back in mid-November at Caulfield when eighth in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.
Damian Lane has the ride first-up with the four-year-old drawn a treat in gate two.
There are currently three other runners at single figures for the win including Redford at $8.
Originally the first emergency, Stuart Kendrick‘s ultra consistent Snitzel four-year-old gains a run with Revolutionary Miss withdrawn.
Redford jumps from barrier five with 53kg chasing his second win on the trot after getting the better of Saturday’s favourite as a 20/1 outsider last weekend.
He is proven up to a mile and should relish the distance on Saturday looking to make it three wins from his past four starts.
The Rob Heathcote trained Abounding meanwhile looks potential value now into $9.50 despite a wide alley and 57.5kg.
The Rich Enuff mare won the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas at this track and trip last summer so is proven at the track, won the Listed Tatt’s Classic two back and Doomben and has form around Bella Nipotina from the winter when fourth in the Group 1 Tiara.
The other Magic Millions Cup market mover since the rescheduling into $9.50 is Craig Williams‘ mount Perfect Thought for John Sargent with the So You Think gelding in on just 53kg.
That’s a lovely drop back for the in-form galloper whose lead-up run saw him carry 59.5kg to victory at Randwick in mid-December.
The rescheduled 2025 Magic Millions Cup is set to run as the Gold Coast Race 4 at 7:05pm (AEST) on Friday’s seven-race card.
